Intubation Shields:
Option 1: Negative Pressure Isolation Chamber
Description
This product should be placed on the patient's head. The chamber contains droplets of liquid and particles in the air during aerosol-generating procedures. Also, the chamber uses negative pressure to replace the contaminated air with clean air.
Recommendations
The camera isolates the patient from the rest of the room and removes the contaminated air.

Option 2 - Intubation Chamber (2 versions: corrugated and not)
There are 2 versions of an intubation chamber (without negative pressure functionality, only to serve as a barrier between patient and doctor) Version 1 Description This product should be placed on the patient's head to contain liquid droplets and airborne particles during aerosolization procedures. Recommendations You can use a modified version of option 1. The box without negative pressure is still a good solution to isolate the patient from the rest of the room during aerosolization procedures. Additional Resources: Version 2 Description Like version 1, this product must be placed over the patient's head to contain liquid droplets and airborne particles during aerosolization procedures. However, this version is made of corrugated plastic. Recommendations This solution can be used when version 1 or option 1 is not available. Additional Resources: |

Option 3 - Plastic Sheet (Stopgap Solution)
Description A sheet of plastic is the last resort. If the chamber options (described above) are not available, a plastic sheet with patient access points still offers protection against airborne particles. Recommendations This should be used when a more sophisticated isolation shield isn’t available and is single use only. These can be made with readily available materials. Additional Resources: |
